TREX® 204
The TREX® 204 is used in adverse working conditions such as in dense vegetation and on mineralized ground such as in the Australian Outback. The precise ground compensation, the audio coding for ferrous/non ferrous metal and the slim sensor probe are the exceptional characteristics of the TREX® 204 in addition to high detection ranges. Small ferrous parts, nails or iron fragments are suppressed by the switchable iron filter/discriminator. Larger ferrous objects or worth excavating coins and gold nuggets are indicated.
In archaeology, the TREX® 204 is particularly welcome to search the site and the planum. This detector also located even corroded ferrous objects, which have lost already much of their substance. Depending on the adjustment, even pottery can be found. The trials and tests confirmed the practical value of this detector for interested Geologists and Mineralogists as it detects not only metal relics but also ore veins in old mining districts.
The TREX® 204 is recommended in forensic police work to search sites of crime. Due to the high detection sensitivity of the device small metal fragments, bullets, cases, airgun pellets and caches with swag or weapons can be located. Its handling characteristics and its good detection range make the detector a useful tool for munitions clearance (i.e., mines, UXO) in normal or adverse conditions.
OPERATION PRINCIPLE
The TREX® 204 applies a TR-system (transmitter-receiver-principle) where metal objects become magnetized when subject to the alternating electromagnetic field transmitted by the detector’s probe. Metal objects react like transmitters responding with a secondary field.
CONSTRUCTION
One substantial characteristic of the detector is its hockey stick shaped sensor probe. It was used by BAC 40 years ago and has developed to be a reliable partner and proved to be ideal for use in difficult terrain such as narrow trenches, earth hollows or beneath tree roots. The 3-part telescopic handle, which is protected against involuntary twisting consists of a handgrip and an armrest. The electronic can be fixed beneath the armrest. Handgrip and armrest can be dismantled as required. The electronic can be fixed also at the waist belt.
